Ship-Jang-Seng(Ten Elder Lives)

Let me introduce Ship-Jang-Seng(Ten Elder Lives) we saw earlier in the museum post.

It consists of ten objects; the sun, mountain, water, rock, pine tree, the moon or cloud, herb of the eternal youth, turtle, crain, and deer.

As you see, some of them represent creatures known for their long lifespan, while the rest represents things those stand an eternity.

Sun- Shining on the whole world (Wisdom, Knowledge, The power of embracement tec.)

Mountain- Unchangable (Massiveness, Longstanding)

Cloud- Tasteful (Appreciating, Ever-changing, Winding with the wind)

Pine tree- Firm fidelity (Evergreen)

Water- Clear and clean (Does not abide the division of high and low, Pure, Upright etc.)

Crain- Soaring spirit

Bamboo- Straight and strong will

Deer- Symbol of peace and the goodness

Turtle- Symbol of protection and good fortune

Elixir herb- Symbol of the perpetual youth

This is a folding screen embroidered with Ship-Jang-Seng.
Find each symbolic figure in the picture.
